The Chrysler 300m is a four door sports sedan made from 1999 through 2004. It was produced to fill the gap emptied when the Eagle Vision was discontinued. Because of the size, it was acceptable for export to Europe and has similar wheelbases as other Chyrsler and Dodge products. The only engine available was a V6 and it was remade for the newest line of vehicles being produced.
There have been several mechanical problems reported by consumers and also by the Chrysler Corporation. Rear-lighting may stay on or flicker because of wiring problems near the trunk or a bad terminal. A rattle may be heard near the front end from air leaks in the rubber bellows of the steering gear. Bad inner tie-rod bushings may cause a loose feel when steering. A squeaking noise is often reported when going over speed bumps or rough roads due to a problem with the struts’ striker caps. Problems with seat belts and air bags have also been reported, with recalls being issued for these problems. The hood latch may release without warning and could allow the hood to raise while operating the vehicle. The Chrysler 300 has more reported transmission problems then engine problems. Normal maintenance is costly for all vehicles, but at times, mechanical problems can arise that are more expensive. At times like this, an extended warranty is a valuable option to have.
When a new vehicle is purchased, dealers will offer an extended warranty to cover mechanical problems that may occur after the standard warranty expires. Extended warranties are usually included in the purchase price, so the buyer pays for the warranty each month with their normal payment. Some problems that can be covered by warranties are transmission problems, the air conditioning compressor, the alternator, or the engine. Any of these repairs can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars to repair. If a warrenty has been purchased, the repair could be free or a fraction of the cost. Anyone purchasing a new vehicle should consider adding an extended warranty to their purchase.
